Divorce Attorney in DuPage County Illinois

DuPage County Divorce Attorney

A Local Aurora Attorney Representing Local Families

When things do not work out the way you planned, sometimes you need to make adjustments, even if that means divorce. If you are considering an end to your marriage or have already made up your mind, find out more about your options. As a DuPage County divorce lawyer, I can provide you with the objective information you need to make the best decision for you and your family.

My name is Matthew M. Williams, of the Law Office of Matthew M. Williams, P.C. I represent clients in a wide variety of legal matters related to families and divorce. In fact, it is my exclusive area of practice. I promise to represent you with the utmost professionalism and sensitivity to your situation, putting your interests to the fore at all times.

My knowledge of divorce law and understanding of the emotional stress it causes for my clients make me an ideal choice to represent you and your family. Call 630-409-8184 or contact me online to schedule a consultation.

Your situation is unique, and so are your hopes and goals. As a family law attorney with a history of helping my clients navigate the troubled waters of divorce, I understand that you need someone who will take the time to learn about you and your family before helping you devise a divorce strategy. Consideration must be given to issues like property division of high-value assets as well as child custody matters like visitation enforcement.

I represent clients in DuPage County and throughout the area who all have different needs. Some couples are able to work through the divorce process with very little outside help, while others cannot even be in the same room. Strategies for divorce resolution include:

  • Litigation: Also known as "contested divorce." All decisions must be approved by a judge. This option costs more, but may be necessary if productive communication between you and your spouse is impossible.
  • Uncontested divorce: A good option for spouses who are capable of civil behavior. I can help you through all the necessary steps so the divorce proceeds quickly.
  • Collaborative law: The collaborative approach works when you and your spouse, with the advice and assistance of an attorney, can come to agreements on the matters at hand. This usually saves time and money while reducing conflict.
  • Mediation: In this process, you and your spouse will meet with a neutral mediator. Generally, there are no attorneys present, but I assist clients by setting negotiation thresholds and advising on strategy. This option works best when there are issues that the parties do not agree upon, but they are able to be civil.
