Matthew M. Williams graduated from Northern Illinois University, cum laude, in 2003. Matthew has focused his practice in the areas of family law, domestic relations, divorce, and parentage/paternity for more than 20 years.

Prior to law school, Matt worked with children in long term care. Those children had severe mental health and behavior issues and required long-term inpatient care. Matt began his work as a childcare worker and he worked his way up to a childcare specialist. Matt helped create a position which worked as a liaison between childcare workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, DCFS, and the court system. Matt worked in this new position for several years prior to leaving for law school.

Prior to working with children in the long-term care facility, Matt worked with Alzheimer’s/dementia patients in a long-term care facility.

Given his extensive experience working with people suffering from mental health issues, Matt brings a unique perspective and ability to work with people in difficult times and with difficult problems.

Matthew has been married for nearly 26 years. His wife has worked for DCFS for 25 years. She is as dedicated to helping children as Matt is to helping his clients. Matt and his wife have one son and one daughter. After only three years of college, his son graduated from Loyola University with honors and special recognition. His son obtained his major in psychology with a minor in history. He is seeking to be admitted to law school. Matt's daughter is still attending college, where she is focusing on special education, art education, and theater.
